PREVENTATIVE CARE

Protect Your Gums. Protect Your Smile.
In America alone, over half of adults suffer from the nagging symptoms of gum disease. Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease or gingivitis, is a chronic dental condition that occurs in patients of all ages and backgrounds. If left untreated, what starts as noticing gums that bleed when brushing or discovering a pink color in the sink when you rinse can lead to more serious dental health problems later on. Rather than wait for itchy gums, sensitive teeth or tooth loss to occur, be sure to schedule regular checkups at the dentist.

Oral Health Is Systemic Health.
Gum disease is increasingly being linked to poor health in the rest of the body, including diabetes, risks of heart attack or stroke and low birth weight. When you care for your teeth properly, you positively influence the health of the rest of your body. Although regular teeth cleanings and healthy habits at home can significantly reduce risks for gum disease and tooth decay, some patients are more prone to gum disease than others.
To treat gum disease in its more advanced form of periodontitis, a service known as scaling and root planing can be used to remove bacteria trapped below the gum line and prevent damage to the teeth and gums. Another form of endodontic dentistry used to treat tooth decay affecting the innermost nerve of the tooth is known as root canal therapy, or a root canal, and can feel no more intrusive than a simple dental filling.

Adult Dentistry
When we’re not caring for your child’s first tooth or your teen’s consultation for Invisalign, we may be helping an older family member considering tooth replacement with a partial or full denture, or implant-supported denture. At Lake Minnetonka Dental, we believe no one should have to struggle with tooth loss, especially in a smile they don’t feel confident in. With the choice of a beautiful partial or full denture, patients can recover their healthy abilities to eat or speak comfortably and enjoy life again in a beautiful smile.

Has Your Child Seen The Dentist?

Your Child’s First Visit To the Dentist
Did you know that your child’s first visit to the dentist should take place within six months of their first tooth erupting? It may seem early, but the younger years are actually some of the most formative of your child’s oral health. Children are also the most exposed to sticky-sweet candy, juices and treats and snack more often throughout the day. Instead of waiting for a cavity or other dental problem, set your child up for success early-on when you come see the dentist and learn what you can do to help your child enjoy taking care of healthy teeth. When you bring your child in to see the dentist, they are able to get to know their dentist, look forward to future dental visits, and enjoy fun kid’s prizes at their family and pediatric dentist in Wayzata.

“I have had Ashley as a hygienist every time and LOVE HER! She is friendly, thorough and tells me the truth. Dr. Herman was efficient and I immediately had total confidence in her. I feel like I am in my "family dental office" and people care about me as a person. I have EVERY reason to stay at Lake Minnetonka Dental and plan to do so for many years to come.”

“This place is amazing!! I have never felt so comfortable going to the dentist in my life. The staff have always been warm and welcoming, and made me feel very at ease. The first time I was there, they took me on a small tour of the facility so I could get to know the surroundings. I can't say enough about Dr. Julia Herman and her assistant... they were fantastic!!”

“Everyone, including myself hates going to the dentist - but when they offer keurig coffee and bottled water, have top of the line technology and a t.v in each room - its actually fun! Plus new patients receive teeth whitening kit, travel mug etc! Also I had Marty as my hygienist - he was so informative, I learned a lot about how to care for my teeth. 100%+ recommend this place!”

“I've gone to the same dentist my whole life. I am amazed at what the staff remembers about me and asks when I come, it makes the experience quite personal. Free whitening for life? Sign me up!”

“I have such a hard time going to the dentist... many fears. I had a general cleaning today and I have to say I was so well cared for. Bobby Jo is a dear sweet person. Very perceptive, caring, careful.. I don't know if there are enough great words to say about her. Thank you all!”

Wow! Recently had my first visit and the experience was incredible! Not commonly said about the dentist... but true! Everyone was so polite and really seemed to enjoy working there. TVs, free wi-fi, and complimentary teeth whitening all make this an outstanding experience for customers. Eager to go back for my next visit!
